    Help on a Ruger Mk1

I recently bought a Mk1 and I want to change the barrel out to something lightweight and bull barrel.

Can you guys tell me if the Mk1s and the Mk2s have the same barrels?

If not, where can I find a replacement Mk1 barrel other than Ruger?

    Thanks

Those aren't allowed in CA. Not drop tested if I remember correctly. Otherwise I just may have too.

The Pac-Lite is an ultra lightweight and accurate barrel/receiver assembly for the Ruger MKII, MKIII, and the 22/45 semi automatic pistols.

        Drop test a barrled reciever????
        OK?

The key word is "Barreled Reciever". A receiver is considered a gun and as such subject to CA's drop test.

Remember, the receiver on a Ruger is the upper part where the barrel threads into. Not the lower.

Last I spoke to Tact-Solutions at the Shot show a few years ago, they had no intentions of submitting their guns to the CA drop test.

Now do they sell just their barrels? At that time they did not.

On Ruger semi-auto 22 pistols, the receiver IS the gun.
The grip frame is not serialized.
You can't drop test a reciever though so they can't be sold unless you can somehow make them a single shot.

You can find a replacement barrels from Numrich but take the others advice, changing the barrel is too much trouble. Look for a MKII bull barrel on consignment or PPT. Or just go buy a new MKIII. Good luck!

Unless you can do the work yourself, it would be way cheaper to sell it and get what you want!

Premium barrels can be found here:

They charge about 125 for the install. These are made from Walther barrel blanks, very nice.
They also have Ruger take offs. I paid about 25 for the MKll one I used on a MKl. I have an action wrench and barrel vise you may use. PM me if interested. The action wrench is for MKl/II not MKlll. IF you can get the original barrel off then you will be able with some patients to get the new one on correctly. Its all about the tightness. Bull barrels are easier than tapered.

Yeah...this is where I got my used slab side stainless barrel years ago. I paid $50.00 for mine ten years ago. A pain in the neck to remove the old barrel but it can be done. The barrels for the Mark 1 and Mark 2 should be the same. What is different on the two is the lower grip frame and bolt.
