Appraisal - New Model Ruger Single 6

Hey guys. I am looking to sell a gun that I inherited and wanted to know how much you guys would be willing to pay for it. It's in mint condition except for 1 thing. The Rear Sight Blade is broken. Other than that I can't see a single flaw. I have an extra cylinder that came with the gun so I assume its a convertable. It is blued steel. Serial 262-84884

Get the rear sight fixed and the dust cleaned off and it will sell for $450. Without the rear sight, I'd be willing to pay closer to $350.

If it sells for $450 you've struck gold. They don't cost that much new- if you know where to shop.

It doesn't look mint to me. Other than the sight blade you mentioned, its got a scratch/chip in the grip frame just below the last "4" in the serial number and the bluing is coming off around the base pin latch. Maybe it's your lighting, etc., but that's what I can see.

Used regular ol' plain jane convertible new model Single Sixes routinely sell for $200-350. This one would land in the middle. ($250-300 would be my estimate). But you never know- some people will pay more, and be quite happy. If I were you, I'd be happy to get $300. Hope it helps.

Does the left side of the barrel have a safety warning rolled stamped on it? Sometimes it may be worth a little more money if it doesn't.... market value fluctuates sometimes on those pistols. Depending on availability and production year. Could look at Gunbroker and see what others are selling for.

Something caught my eye too... is that a crack on the bottom of the loading gate?

Not sure what roll stamping is. It does have a warning on the left side of the barrel. "Before using gun, read warnings in safety manual" Other than the little nick that was pointed out earlier, I see no damage. After doing a little research I know for sure it is the convert. model and I do have the .22 mag cylinder.

can you confirm if some of the screws are buggered up? looks like it from some of the pictures. as you add damage to the gun and if it's missing original materials, prices tend to drop quite a bit. But as a previous poster stated, it really depends on who's buying it and what they'll be happy with.

When I looked, I tried checking gunbroker to compare but they were all over the place on prices.

I've got a few single sixes, and I think yours is in very good condition. New models usually show heavier drag marks on the cylinders - I don't see any buggered screws, or anything wrong with the grip frame. Most of your photos are good quality and I can see more defects on some of the guns pictured in Ruger's catalogs than I see on your gun. Like someone else said, new models aren't worth as much, but looks pretty nice to me. I could easily see someone paying $300, but don't believe a dealer would offer that much unless it was in trade on another gun offered at list price.

                    Umm, you just said dealer.

Retail is almost 1.5 to 2 times that of wholesale (what a gun dealer will buy it for).

Checkout RugerForum.com for similiar models. And as you know, prices are all over the map with this economy. For a fast sale, go $300, try up to $400 for a NM in real good shape, which this appears to be. Nice if you had the box, and a bag for the mag cylinder. BTW - Don't FAN it or let anyone try doing it or the cylinder will be worth nothing!!

I'm assuming you fix the rear site to get these prices. Cause it'll cost the next guy $40-50 to fix it... so you might as well get it in nice shape to sell..

Hi. Wasn't sure if your comment was directed at my statement, "I could easily see someone paying $300, but don't believe a dealer would offer that much unless it was in trade on another gun offered at list price."? If it was, all I was trying to say is, a dealer might give him $300 in trade on another gun priced at retail. Didn't mean to confuse anyone. A new rear sight blade for a Single Six is around $4 and a complete new rear sight is about $17, so he might be able to fix it for cheap.
