SAVAGE MARLIN MAG COMPATABLE?

Has anyone check to see if the marlin 795 mag is compatable with the savage 64 reciever I would like to find out

I have both rifles, and just tried it. Not even close.

• The Savage mag catch is in front of mag, and Marlin is behind the mag, so there is no way to lock the mag into the mag well.
• Savage bolt cannot feed rounds from 795 mag because of wider bolt head.
• The feed angle is also slightly different.

I have yet to find any aftermarket accessories for the Savage 64, which seems odd since Savage / Lakefield have been manufacturing the Series 60's for 40+ years. Even extra magazines are a pain to get hold of.

I bought my Savage 64, with the idea of using the action for the basis of a Airsoft body conversion, such as a HK G36 or L85A2, like those discussed in this forum: http://customrifles.info/forum/YaBB.pl?board=customdisc
