That is neat, problem is after you add that in addition to the FH you're looking at extending your barrel 2+ inches

Well I drove over to Randall's place and dropped off my upper for the night.

He called me just three hours later and told me that he had already made the tool!
Basically we ended up lopping a little over an inch off the barrel, threading it and permanently installing the Flash Suppressor to make it legal.

Thanks Randall, it looks just how I wanted it!
      You do great work

Nice! That gun definitely needed that FH. Now you have made everybody with an M&P-22 jealous.

Nice!! I like that CQB look. What did that barrel work cost you? It makes the rifle look complete. I want one now!

BTW, Can you post a pic shot of the area where the flash hider was pinned? I want to see how clean the blind pinning and solder/weld came out. I have two barrels I need done.

Sure, I'll try to remember when I get home. It's at the very bottom and not very noticeable at all unless you flip the rifle over and look for it
Oh and as far as pricing, you’ll have to hit up Randall. The only above and beyond cost was the removal of the barrel since it takes a special tool.

I also opted to shorten the barrel as I didn't want it to be really long with the added Muzzle Break. If you notice the new gen S&W 15-22's, they come with a MB but it's added to the existing barrel length (looks too long IMP)

                    Great pics

Wow, those look really nice with muzzle devices added to them. I really like the one at the top of this page. Sweet design.
Glad we have a local Calgunner to do the work!
Keep the pics coming. They are really cool to see.

Why dont you just buy the Barrel Thread Converter for Smith & Wesson M&P15-22

you can get them even on ebay.

I saw that and it's not what I wanted.
To me that's the Mickey Mouse way of doing it and I don't do anything half assed.

Besides, putting money back in my local community feels good. Not to mention I met someone local who I can trust with any future work.

I think that guy must make or sell those converters.
He has two posts on calguns, BOTH linking to that same page.
                            Makes you go hmmm...

The best part is that he sells them for $52.
                            Somehow that's less trouble?

Isn't it illegal to have a threaded attachment on the M&P 15-22 here in cali?

I suppose if you leave it threaded and don't perm. fix an flash supressor?
This is not the case for my application.
