Well I drove over to Randall's place and dropped off my upper for the night.
He called me just three hours later and told me that he had already made the tool!
Basically we ended up lopping a little over an inch off the barrel, threading it and permanently installing the Flash Suppressor to make it legal.
Here are some pics:
Before (stock pic):

After:
Thanks Randall, it looks just how I wanted it!
You do great work

Nice!! I like that CQB look. What did that barrel work cost you? It makes the rifle look complete. I want one now!
BTW, Can you post a pic shot of the area where the flash hider was pinned? I want to see how clean the blind pinning and solder/weld came out. I have two barrels I need done.

Sure, I'll try to remember when I get home. It's at the very bottom and not very noticeable at all unless you flip the rifle over and look for itNice!! I like that CQB look. What did that barrel work cost you? It makes the rifle look complete. I want one now!

Oh and as far as pricing, you’ll have to hit up Randall. The only above and beyond cost was the removal of the barrel since it takes a special tool.
I also opted to shorten the barrel as I didn't want it to be really long with the added Muzzle Break. If you notice the new gen S&W 15-22's, they come with a MB but it's added to the existing barrel length (looks too long IMP)Last edited by indetrucks; 02-11-2010, 10:07 AM.Comment

Great pics
Wow, those look really nice with muzzle devices added to them. I really like the one at the top of this page. Sweet design.
Glad we have a local Calgunner to do the work!
Keep the pics coming. They are really cool to see.

I saw that and it's not what I wanted. Why dont you just buy the Barrel Thread Converter for Smith & Wesson M&P15-22

To me that's the Mickey Mouse way of doing it and I don't do anything half assed.
Besides, putting money back in my local community feels good. Not to mention I met someone local who I can trust with any future work.Comment

I think that guy must make or sell those converters.
He has two posts on calguns, BOTH linking to that same page.
Makes you go hmmm...
The best part is that he sells them for $52.
Somehow that's less trouble?Last edited by ar15barrels; 02-25-2010, 10:16 PM.Randall Rausch
