There's no difference whatsoever. Hell, Noveske lowers don't even have a caliber at all. Not even "multi".

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

why do people still get this wrong all the time. All rifles and shotguns have a 26" minimum OAL per state and federal law lest they be considered an short-barreled rifle or shotgun. ONLY semi-automatic centerfire rifles have an additional 30" minimum OAL, no other center-fire action-type rifle has to comply with the 30" rule, and neither do shotguns.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

        I stand corrected.

I assume the 11.5" barrel from spikes get to 26" OAL?

I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but, I think he barrel needs to be at least 16" AND (not or) the overall length needs to be at least 26".

That's considered a SBR in CA. You can get it in other states with an ATF tax stamp but not in CA.

Minimum requirement is the 16" barrel. If you read the Spike's site, it goes in the upper receiver about 1.5" making it look like a true 14" M4 length.

That's the only thing that bothered me about the Spike's setup. If for some reason the gun was taken (LEO assumed it's an AW) and it gets reviewed by a forensic analyst at the DOJ or ATF, how are they going to know the barrel is legal length without disassembling it?

              Anyone else run into this?

They measure the barrel length while it is assembled, so it shouldn't be an issue.

2.1.3 Rifle. A rifle is a firearm designed to be fired from the shoulder and designed to use the energy of
an explosive in a fixed cartridge to fire only a single projectile through a rifled barrel for each single pull
of the trigger. A rifle subject to the NFA has a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length.
The ATF procedure for measuring barrel length is to measure from the closed bolt (or breech-face) to
the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device.
Barrels are measured by inserting a dowel rod
into the barrel until the rod stops against the bolt or breech-face. The rod is then marked at the
furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device, withdrawn from the barrel, and
                measured.
