Here is what didn't work well:
    1) I cut off a loop from the hammer spring to reduce trigger pull. This caused a lot of failure to fires since the impact wasn't hard enough. Don't know if there is a difference between old and newer models, but I would strongly discourage anyone from modifying the trigger spring. This is even though there are numerous threads on rimfilecentral about such changes to the Marlin 60 (similar trigger group)

On thing that absolutely sucks about the design of the Marlin 795 is the ejection mechanism. When a cartridge fails to fire, the rim is deformed just enough to increase the friction between the cartridge and the chamber. This in addition to weak extractors will leave a misfired cartridge lodged in the chamber. To make things worst, the ejection port is too small to stick a finger in there and pull it out. There is no real solution to this, but then again, you get a lot for a sub $200 rifle.
totally agree on tech-sights. wow, very quick acquisition of the target and it's hard to miss. one caveat is I find the front site on mine to be a bit thick and dark. I was considering filing it down just a tiny bit and maybe throwing a dab of paint on the tip. we'll see.

As for the trigger. mine was horrendous out of the box. before even taking it to the range I tore in to it, followed the marlin 60 steps including cutting a loop off the hammer spring. >200rds down the chamber and not a single ftf on federal or remington bulk box ammo. it shoots and ejects perfectly so far. I was considering taking more off the hammer spring because it's still a bit tough but I think I'll run 1000rds down it first to break it in and see.

I didn't have to polish anything yet but we'll see.

Thank you for your feedback on this.

^^^If it's anything like my Marlin 60, DON'T take off more than one loop. I got light strikes when I took of two. Had to order another one from Brownell's (but cut a loop off that one, too! ).

Im thinking of mounting a scope on my marlin and I was hoping you guys could tell me if this adapter from dovetail to weaver is any good

I know rimfiretech makes one but I like how this is raised and it is a bit cheaper
