    Forgive the noob question...

But I want to 1000% certain; Since the M&P 15-22 is a rim fire there are zero restrictions on features, correct? Does that extend to the magazine? In other words can the dedicated .22 mag be the hi-cap? Or is 10 rounds still the limit.

    Thanks in advance.

There are only 3 restrictions with rimfire magazine fed rifles. Must be at least 26" overall length (this includes with collapsed or folded stocks in collapsed or folded positions) barrel must be at least 16" and magazine must be no more than 10 rounds. You can only have more than 10 rounds on a non detachable "tube fed" rifle.

Has to be over 26" and pre-ban hi caps can be used.

How can you use a pre-ban hicap on a rifle which has only been available for a few months? Magazines didnt exist before the ban and no others will work in the rifle since they are proprietary mags, therefore no you cant. By the way, black Dog Machine didnt exist then and the metal mag inserts from an M-261 dont cycle properly.

I was just throwing out the rules for rimfire. I haven't looked at the rifle the op was talking about and don't know what pre ban mags may or may not work for it.

            Roger on the 10 rounders.

So what is the collapsed length of the M&P 15-22? Does it qualify so the factory stock can be retained?

            Thanks!

The factory stock is fine otherwise it wouldnt be able to be imported into the state. Just be sure that any aftermarket stock falls into the guidelines
