    Makarov .22 Conversion Kit?

Anyone here use one of these? And does it work?

K-Var specializes in the AK market offering AK rifles, parts, and accessories. We also now carry AR-15 as well as many other popular calibers and styles of firearms, parts, and accessories.

They're Bulgarian made, and look like a quality conversion.

But it looks like the .22 barrel is threaded for a nut that centers and holds the conversion barrel inside the 9x18 barrel. Sounds quasi-legal to assemble in Kalifornia, but then again is it truly "a threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip [lol], or silencer"? I'm sure someone could reverse engineer anything to fit, but I am not aware of any existing.

Absolutely illegal if one does not perm. fix that nut to the barrel on that det. mag. semi auto pistol. Same situation as the Walther P22 CA models.

Only problem is that the actual 9x18 barrel that is physically attached to the frame of the gun is NOT threaded. The threaded .22 conversion barrel fits within the unthreaded 9x18 barrel. So I am not so sure of these being "absolutely illegal." And no, the Walther P22's situation is different because that's the actual barrel of the gun, and not some conversion. Case law anyone?

Makarov.com had contacted the CA-DOJ and were told that the conversion constituted a threaded barrel. I don't know whether they have an opinion in writing or not.

If I had a spare Mak I'd permanently convert one but I certainly wouldn't install that kit without doing away with the threads one way or another.
