    I have a Hogue stock and a GM .920 bull Barrel on mine with a cheapy Walmart Bushnell 3X12 scope on mine.

    No issues @100 yard range. I can even bust up clays out to 200 and then shoot all the little pieces at 200 yards. You do have to take the wind and drop into consideration how evere when shooting outside.

      Yup, at ranges over 100 yards the bullet drop really comes into play. I went to a 30MM tube with 1/8" clicks to insure enough internal adjustment. Oh, and Mil-Dot reticle...

      Drop in Volquartson trigger, Whistle Pig Barrel, etc.

      And then there's that pesky Mirage issue...
      TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
      The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
      Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
      Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
      The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
      The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
      The best lack all conviction, while the worst
      Are full of passionate intensity.

        My stock 10/22s never shot well for me. For hunting, they were terrible.

        A better trigger helped minimally for me even off the bench. There are several good barrel makers out there.....Lilja is the first to come to mind.

        The 77/22s are worth the extra money for accuracy.

That BTW was with Agula match ammo. I installed a Houge stock and a blue Green Mountain barrel that shrunk my groups down to 3/4".
          What ammo are you using? Better ammo, faster, heavier bullet could help.

          For what it's worth CCI seems to make the best ammo. The Stinger's rock but are very expensive. Winchester also has a 40 gr HV round (1400 fps) that is nice but I haven't gotten to shoot at any distance.

            I am curious to know and would test this in future, the fps and barrel diameter as important factors possibly.

              I must have got a pretty good 10/22. My dad bought it about 6-7 years ago and I can hit bowling pins at 100 yards easily with iron sights. The first 5 shots of the mag were knocking the pin down and the rest just pushing them around the ground.

                  ive got two that do the exact same thing. one is bone stock,the other only has a butler creek folding stock. any ammo i put in there, they hit where i point em. every time (unless -i- have a spazz). maybe some of these rugers are coming out with a loose nut behind the wheel...

                    It was bone stock using stingers and later some bulk remington ammo.

                        I even got a few hits on a steel license plate at 200 yards.

                        My grandpa bought an old 10/22 that his neighbor has had since the 80's. I heard those are even more accurate than the newer ones.

                          yes. from what i have heard about the new ones i would say yes, cause I had one when I was young, 20 years ago and it was really accurate with stock sights.

                            I'll have to see if I can borrow it from it to take it to the range. May be I can even buy it to make a cool rifle out of it.

                              I believe the H-Bars are more stable when the heat up, and don't heat up as much. Also that add some weight to the rifle and reduce the kick.

                              I think the real value in an after market barrel is that it is precision machined and checked for accuracy. Not stamped out on a production line, like a factory barrel.
