Is it illegal in CA to thread a rimfire barrel?

I have a M&P15-22 and wanted to have it threaded to add a flash hider. Was told by a company based out of CA that they would be breaking CA law if they threaded my barrel so it could take the FH. Thing is, I have a FH on my CA legal 5.56 caliber AR-15.

Anyone know what the real scoop is here?

Threaded barrels are only no-gos on pistols.....rifles are fine.

They prolly think we have the same rules that the old Federal ban did.

It is 100% legal to have a threaded barrel on any rifle or shotgun and most handguns.

Threaded barrels are only illegal on semi-auto pistols that use detachable magazines.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

Not all evils are exmpted by being a rimfire. Review your flowcharts again...

              1) A rimfire pistol with a detachable magazine would still be an AWB.
However, a rimfire pistol with a non-detachable mag would be OK.

              2) Also, being a rimfire doesn't exempt you from the hicap mag laws.

Rimfire rifles only have to meet overal length and barrel length. Rimfire pistols still cannot have threaded barrels and other evil features if they are semi automatic and have detachable magazines.
