ar15 ciener conversion any downfall ?

hi, i just got the ar15 ciener conversion kit for my ar15. this is great on saving ammo. i've never shot any .22 lr before and have been seeing alot of carbon fouling on my muzzle brake. my question is will this foul up my gas tube ? are there any down falls for doing this? Thanks for your help guys

Some of the forum members have put hundreds of round of .22 through their conversions during a shooting session with no issues when switching to centerfire. AR shooters recommend you fire a few rounds of .223/5.56 when you are done with .22lr to clean out the barrel and gas system.

My ciener kit works great with no issues. The only problem for me is 223 and 22lr don't shoot to the same point of aim. I had to write down the number of clicks on the scope I need to adjust when I change calibers. Mark

You should clean out the barrel real well after using the .22 kit. Don't expect shooting a few .223 rounds after .22's to be good. I was shooting my .22 kit out in the desert once and an underpowered round got stuck in the barrel and I couldn't shoot anything else through that barrel until I got home. That's when I decided to build a dedicated .22 upper. And once this OLL madness happened I built a complete dedicated .22 AR. Anyways, I would recommend buying or building a .22 upper from CMMG or Spikes. Acurracy, for one thing, is so much better with a proper 1/16 twist .22 barrel.
