I'm thinking of getting one and wanted your opinions. I'm between a mark III, buckmark, or the sig. Enlighten me please. Oh, and I want to spend around $300.

Sig Mosquito?

With that budget, I would recommend the mark III 22/45 (269.00 at turners right now) the buckmarks are a little harder to find at that price, the best I've seen a buckmark camper was 329.00
The standard metal frame rugers start around 375. (My gun of choice)
The sig is a little picky with ammo (hearsay only, I don't own one) and prefers the high velocity stuff.
The rugers and buckmarks are amazingly accurate right out of the box, and a lot of parts are made for them, so if you ever feel like modding, its possible (moreso with the ruger)sigpic

my ruger mk3 22/45 has NEVER failed me and has ran perfect since the day I bought it. My friends Sig mosq. was a total disappointment and a major upset since it has Sigs name on it. It was very tricky to get it to run a complete 10 round mag of ammo. Grip it to tight? jam. Grip it loose? jam. Tried every kind of ammo possible? jam. Tried some of the "sig bible" tricks to make it more reliable? jam.
The best way we found was to shoot federal red box, and hold onto the gun at a slight angle with a slightly loose grip and you could feed about 5 rounds or so through the mag before it would jam. What a POS. My freind sold it to a guy who knew full well it was a jam brick. It sold because it "looked cool".
I think you know what my opinion is. The buckmark may be good too, but I hear they are just imitation rugers (which cant necessarily be a bad thing).whatComment

I bought a Mosquito a couple of months prior to moving out here in 2006, and that Sig was a dog. I couldn't get two shots off in a row without jamming. I tried several different brands of ammo and fired hundreds of rounds, mostly single shot. Meanwhile, my Ruger MKII was eating the leftover ammo without a hiccup!
I've read a ton of "horror stories" on the SigForum about the Mosquito. I've heard people say that their Mosquito runs fine if they spray the ammo with WD40! WTF? IMO, a .22 plinker should eat anything you feed it. My Ruger MKII and Beretta Cheetah have worked perfectly with everything I've fed 'em, from target loads to Stingers. Without putting WD40 on the ammo!
YMMV, but I'd steer clear of the Mosquito.Comment

if you already own a CF Sig, the best way to go would be with the .22lr conversion top end. you get to practice with a full sized gun with all the controls you're already used to.
if you don't, i'd recommend look at something other than the Mosquito...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

MK3 for sure. Or my Browning Medalist.Comment

For a $300.00 budget, you can't go wrong. The Rugers are great pistols and very reliable too.
The Browning Buck Mark Camper is a nice pistol too, but as another member mentioned they are just really hard to find. And the last Camper I saw was around $350 before taxes.
Stick with the Ruger, you will be happy with it.
The MK3 22/45 is my next pistol as well.

Sig is all about looking cool. Doesn't shoot worth beans... I have a bbgun pistol that shoots better then my mosquito.Comment

+1 on the Ruger. I have a MkII that has had at least 10K rounds through it and still keeps tight groups bullseye shooting at 50 ft. Also, it's eaten everything I've fed it and can't remember it ever having a malfunction.NRA Certified Rifle Instructor

Sig is very picky with ammo. With crap ammo i would have it misfire/jam 1/50 rounds. With good ammo i have never had it misfire/jam.

my brother has a mosquito and it's super picky about ammo...so much so that you either need to buy top quality CCI mini mags or spend the day cursing at your gun.sigpic
Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.
