Sig 522 folding stock question...

Is anybody else experiencing problems in getting the folding stock to lock into its closed (folded) position?

Two friends of mine and I all purchased our guns at the same time and none of us are able to get the stock to lock into position - it bottoms out on the RH safety lever and "smacking it really hard" () doesn't seem like a viable option.

Is there a trick to this? There's nothing in the manual about it... (?)

Are you having a hard time getting the tab in the tab holder or just holding? I had a problem with the folder not allowing the tab to go into the receptacle. Sig replaced the tabs, with a more robust tab due to previous design breaking prematurely. The cure is to slightly file the tab leading edge as (I've found on other forums) which I did-it works!! Hope this helps -J

Yeah, we're having trouble getting the pin (integrally molded to the forend) to go into, and lock into, the receptical on the stock. We have gotten it to go by smacking it, but that just doesn't seem "right" and it's a bear to get it back open.

I'll contact Sig and break out my rifflers.

After folding it and unfolding it a few times it gets easier. The first couple of times, I thought I was gonna break a bone in my hand smacking it closed.

Yeah mine is still stiff, you just need to apply a good amount of pressure and make sure it is lined up properly (male and female ends respectively).

I noticed the same problem when I was handling one at Metco. I asked the guy about this too and he told me that you just need to give it a good smack. I didn't do that since it wasn't mine to smack lol

Most of the ones that are comin through the shop req a sharp pop to get them to lock/work properly......after a few times they work better.....kinda like a teenager....

mine was super tight but has gotten MUCH better. i lay it on the tab then squeeze it together with both hands like I'm trying to squeeze an orange. First time was a bear but not I can slap it open/closed with no problem.

No need to slap (dont break the tabs), put it together and then apply a lot of pressure to get it to go into place

I was checking one out in the store and had the same problem. The I let the store clerk lock it and it took a pretty good wack to get it to clip. I ended up buying the Ruger SR-22 in the end.

When I bought mine neither the dealer or I could get the stock to lock folded. We finally put the rifle on a folded blanket and just used body weight to finally snap it locked. After repeating this procedure a few times the stock worked in well enough to now lock it by hand. Sig just makes this part very tightly fitted, but rest assured they wear in easily.
