Optic recommendation for S&W Model 41

Hopefully I'll be taking possession of a Model 41 here soon through S&W's discount program for military/LE. As my eyesight isn't quite as good as it used to be in my younger days, am interested in an optical sight for this .22 caliber pistol. Primary usage will be informal target shooting/plinking at distances probably not exceeding 50 yards. Other than scoped hunting rifles I have no experience with optical sights for a pistol. Any recommendations/suggestions most heartily welcomed. Thanks.

In the middle price range I really like the Burris Fastfire which can be had with a rail mount for about $200. They also make custom mounts for many different handguns, but I don't know if they make one specifically for the 41 that will work without a rail, but it's very easy to mount a rail on the 41.
