    AR-7 failure to fire?

I have a Henry AR-7; I've never had a failure to feed or eject. My problem are failures to fire. I've only used cheap brick ammo. Could this be the reason? Or do I need to get some work done on the firing pin?

When it fails to fire look where the firing pin strikes the round. Is there a lighter strike than the ones that did go off? Some cheap ammo have bad spots in the primers. Also the firing pin could be hitting marginally. But it could also be that while it is chambering, the round isn't totally seating so when the firing pin hits it pushes the round forward a little and doesn't compress the rim enough to fire. You will see a difference in the strikes if that is the case. If it is then you could try a good cleaning and maybe try more lube. Also check the area of the chamber where the firing pin hits to make sure it hasn't peened over a little bit from dry firing.

How did you get the only AR7 which doesn't have FTFs? Also, listen to Bob's advise but in the end, yes it could and probably is be the ammo.

Are you using Remington ammo by chance?

I'm willing to bet that you found your problem. Next time you are out, save the "bad" rounds and then feed them through your gun again. I bet they will work. The primer compound is not always spread evenly around the rim so, the firing pin probably hit a section of the rim without any primer compound in it.

You might try Federal Bulk, if you can find it. All my guns usually shoot either Federal or Remington Bulk. As a last resort, try CCI minimags.

Either I'm psychic, or I've used Remington bulk rimfire ammo before.

Federal bulk from Cabela's on sale with ammo box included. No problems encountered.
