Colt Licensed, UmarexUSA Imported, Walther Made M4 .22LR Carbine

Colt Licensed, UmarexUSA Imported, Walther Made M4 .22LR Carbine rifle is my new gun. I choose this rifle because originally I was going to go with a Bushmaster Modified for CA AR with a fixed 10 round mag. However after much research and debate I went with this .22LR because I wanted to become proficient first on a rifle, then upgrade to a nice one but I when that time comes I will go with a off list.

Anyway back to the .22LR, I am not sure what to call it....in all reality since Walther makes it in Germany it is a Walther gun but all that corporate bs...

As others have stated there are some fake features and some real ones, so I will not go through all those details. Only thing I added thus far is a forward pistol grip for better aiming. I have a red dot sight in the mail.

I went to Insight Shooting Range in Artesia, it is near my house and a pretty nicely run place. I got my targets, went into the range and let her rip! WOW!
Before I begin, I have to say I had already opened her up and tightened up the bolt screw for Hi Velocity Ammo, and am I glad I did. I went through 200 rounds before the first issue arose. That was due to some improperly ejecting casings but was remedied rather quickly. The first few dozen shots were all over and hard to get down range properly, trigger felt a little odd. After the first 100, she felt a lot better, and by then I had the sights aligned better as well. My groupings were not bad, for one of my last targets I got this one of a bad guy holding a lady hostage with a gun pointed out, I nailed him in his head in very tight little groups.

Quite a few people came over to check it out, many of them approached me at first asking how they allowed me to bring in a .223 rifle, I was like looks are deceiving! Everyone who looked at it was impressed that the bottom and uppers are all metal.

There was one point where I had one guy on one side firing a .357 and the other a .45, they both asked me at several points if something was wrong with my rifle or if I needed help, I was like no, why do you ask? They both were like well we haven't heard a shot from your stall in a while and did not see your target move, I howled with laughter and pointed to the .22LR rounds sitting on my little table and then their rounds, they both joined in too.

Buy this Rifle or any of these .22LR "black rifles" lol, they are a ton of fun to shoot and you make new friends with it, pretty good deal to me!

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.

There far too much negative press on the rifle -most from people who don't own one.

Congrats. The Colt was my first "black rifle" rimfire gun also. I too enjoy the heck out of shooting this great rifle. Mine will shoot anything but still has trouble with Remington ammo. True, this rifle will set you back about 3 times the cost of a Ruger 10-22, but I think it is worth it. The fun factor is like you said WOW! I shoot mine with the iron sights and at 25 yards it will shoot into one hole. It will shoot into one hole with my 4x scope at 50 yards too. Be warned though, this "black rifle" .22 stuff can get addicting. I ended up buying a GSG-5 (phenomenally accurate and reliable) and a SIG SG522 as well. The SIG is the king of the ones I have though. It is the most solid well built "black rifle" I have at this point. The rifle was about 80 bucks cheaper than the Colt and includes a hard plastic case; unfortunatley the gun does not come with sights. Adding a red dot or scope will quickly take it up in the Colt's price range though. Enjoy the little Colt and as you have found out, it is no where near as bad a rifle as many on the gun forums would have you believe. On the contrary, mine has proven to be accurate and reliable.

        Congrats on the purchase.

Time sure does fly when I'm plinking away at the range with mine.

thanks guys, yeah I never really care what other people think about most things...I like to read and test things out....then make my own intelligent fact based decision as what to go with

The fun factor is beyond me....yes the colt is a little pricer but in the long term it pays for itself....so CHEAP to shoot....wow. I spent hours at the range...I got there about 1:30/2....after a LONG while...I was wondering why am I so hungry, I checked my watch ...o geez that is why it was coming 5:30! It had felt like only an hour or two had gone by....I had gone through quite a few targets....but they are so cheap and the ammo is cheap and the lane fee was cheap and unlimited on time...man...I am loving this cheapness!

I mean come on, this has to be by FAR the greatest selling point of these rifles is the cost to shoot them is nothing...you can really hone your skills with these little guys before upgrading to something with a little more kick!

Congrats on your new plinker. Very nice rifle (regardless what others saying). Overpriced-may be,but I don't feel it that way.

Yesterday we have decided to shoot my M4 till she will stop function (became too dirty) and it took us 2 visits to range, 600 rounds and still couldn't make it to have single problem. She was shooting perfect till range close and we run out of ammo.
Whatever people say about it-I don't personaly belive it. I have more then 3000 rounds thru and after inital break in no problem at all.
BTW I found for my self the best ammo is AMSCOR HP HV. I have feeling it is less dirty and more accurate, but again it is pesonal feeling, so may be I am wrong.

Yup I have the same feeling with the ARMSCOR HP HV, about two weeks ago i went to the range using armscor & remington thunderbolt ( I still had some 200 rds at that time & i'm just trying to get rid of it) I fired 50rds of armscor first w/o a problem then i fired the thunderbolt and out of the 200 rds 20 was FTF and the colt got really dirty like there was sand inside the upper reciever, then w/o cleaning I decided to fire the last 50 rds of the armscor ( i only brought 100 rds that day) and the armscor still works flawlessly & accurately....I highly recommend this ammo to all the colt owner to give it a try...

Search Range report on colt. I'm not just a talker. Negative talk usually come from the toy gun gsg owners.

CCI blazer for cheaper stuff and the more expensive CCI mini mags all the way. Don't bother with anythign else. The more expensive german stuff that's oily in yoru hand is more and shoots less then minimags.

ive been a bad owner and havent cleaned my M4 in over 1000 rounds ( 2 range trips)..lol

the only thing i noticed was more of a gritty feeling when pulling the charging handle back.

Anyone have any luck where to find spare magazines?

Man... I was just in Las Vegas on Christmas and boy do the people in Nevada have lots of nice toys there Anyway, had a hard time finding magazines and even had a hard time finding some CA LEGAL magazines for the colt m4 22 in Nevada. Lucky them they get 30rounds
