    HP22A?

My 9 year old son has been shooting his Savage cub for a couple of years now. I think he has the discipline to move up to a semi auto handgun. I was thinking of getting him a Phoenix HP22A for his 10th birthday. Any thoughts on this gun?

It's a fun little gun, but the safety controls are a little bit funky.....there are too many.

Mine is super reliable and fun to shoot. It's a decent compact pistol for it's price, but as 69Mach1 said, it has too many safeties. A regular safety, a firing pin safety, & mag disconnect (which may be a good thing for training handgun safety to a 10 yr old).

The nickel finish are much nicer than the black, for the same price.
