Hey guys, i heard somewhere that you could convert 10/22 into a .17HMR rifle. Anybody else heard that and if so how? Since I have two 10/22s and no .17s i thought this might be a decent project to look into. thanks

You can but for the HMR you need to have the 10/22mag length action. You can use the 10/22 to go .17hm2. All you need is a barrel and either the weighted charging handle for the bolt, because of the faster cycling, or the bolt modded for the .17hm2. A couple of the sponsors over on Rimfirecentral.com can do the bolt mod rather cheaply and there is a multitude of threads on RFC to get you going on your conversion. Here is a link to a completed build on RFC:
Good luck,

Some of the companies that sell the 17machII barrels sell them with the bolt handle. I have a ER Shaw stainless that I ordered direct from Chris at ER Shaw and the handle was included..sigpic

I have a 10/22 set up with the E.R. Shaw barrel and bolt knob in the MII caliber and it is just a great rifle to shoot. You know, one of those guns that is so stinking accurate that it gets a bit boring to shoot so you find yourself shooting progressively smaller/more challenging targets. The only draw back I have found is that being a 10/22 you shoot it like a 10/22, "blap, blap, blap" and that gets comparatively expensive quick.Comment
