    GSG-5 Range Report

I picked up my new -5 last Friday and FINALLY took it to the range tonight (The Firing Line in HB).

I was a little pressed for time, and only got about 300 rounds thru it.

Good grief, these guns are FUN! I was verrrry nervous about spending $500+ for a (in my mind) "glorified 10/22". It turned out to be some of the best gun-$'s I ever spent. I'll be shooting this gun very, very often.

300-ish rounds downrange and it ate 299 of them with no problem. The one bad round was a dud that I reloaded/rechambered 3x. It was a dud... oh well... welcome to rimfire, it happens. Noooo big deal.

The only complaint I can come up with so far about the GSG-5 in CA:

Keeping the mags loaded. 10 rounds at a time SUCKS.

These are great-fun-guns. Grab one while you can!

        Looks like Modesto Rifle club!!!!

Nicer thing about it, when it gets cold and rainy, you can move inside to the .22 caliber indoor range ........

Aw, heck! Now you are taking me back! Back to rimfire silhouette matches every second Sunday. Back to shooting indoor and outdoor airpistol silhouette John Sears, Jim Laird and the gang. Back to trading barbs all match long with Todd T. Man, I need to get down there and do some shooting soon!

thread content: Duh, those -5s are fun! I have about 5k through mine and am definitely buying a second one after Xmas/New Year! Now, go buy yourself some ammo! As in 15-20k! You will need it.

I like the big calibers, but I'm starting to buy more .22's -the cost factor, lots fun, and poly-tickshuns don't seem to be as scared of them when passing this B*S* laws on guns ammo.......plus I plan to take all the grandkids shooting as soon as I get made a granddad....someday......

Yes, these "black rifle" .22s are a kick. I have the GSG-5 standard and it is great fun. I put a 4x scope on it and it is one hole accurate at 50 yards. I also have the Colt M4 .22 and the Sig SG522. I love all these .22 military clones. It sure is fun shooting and collecting them.
