    .22lr conversion for a 1911?

Anyone have any feedback on a Ceiner/Kimber/Marvell 22lr conversion for a fullsize 1911? Do they feed well? Thanks.

Ceiner and Kimber dont have slide hold open after the last round, the old Marvel does but the new ones dont. Other than that im sure they are similar. All three of them are picky on ammo so you have to read peoples reviews to find out which brand ammo works best in each one.

I've been using a Kimber Conversion for several years now. I absolutely love it. I have heard that they can be picky with ammo but mine has fed almost everything I've put through it (there was one type of ammo that it did not like but I can't remember which). Generally though, mine eats whatever I feed it. They are very accurate but that is more dependant on the ammo you use, not the kit.

As far as fit, I have only used the Conversion on Kimber brand frames. It fits nicely on my guns and assembly/ disassembly is a snap. The magazines are plastic/ polymer(?) and are well made. They will not seat properly if you have a magwell installed on your frame.

IMO, the Kimber conversion is reliable, well made and accurate for my needs. It is my go-to .22 set up when I need/ want to shoot a .22 handgun. Total fun! I have not been disappointed.

There have been other threads on these conversions. I'm sure a search would yield some more info on them. HTH's

I recently sold a Marvel Unit 2 which was a blast to shoot. It ran fantastic on CCI Minimags, was accurate on my pre-series II Kimber frame and just an all around fun plinker.

However, I sold it since minimags are no longer cheap to shoot as they used to be.

I have the Kimber and Tactical Solutions conversions. They are both great units but mine are very picky about ammo. They love cci mini mags and Aguila Super Extra high velocity rounds but none of the bulk pack stuff will run through a mag without a hicup. I shot the Steel Challenge a couple years with the Kimber and it did very well and was a great warmup to shooting the match with my centerfire 1911 the following day.

The TacSol slide holds open on the last round and uses awesome steel mags but they are very pricy. Luckily the Kimber mags work in both and are much cheaper. If you do have a magwell, you'll need to find the kimber mags made specifically for magwell guns so they fit, otherwise you need to sand the edges off the standard kimber mags so they will seat.
With the price of .45 nowadays, you can't go wrong with a conversion unit, you may find it stays on your gun more then the .45. upper...

i own the Kimber .22 LR conversion kit for my Springfield GI 1911, and it's been running without a hitch. i use it for practice for USPSA and IDPA shooting since i don't reload. i wished that the slide locked open, but it's not too much of a big deal.

don't have one but people i know who have kimber conversions love them! haven't heard of many problems, mostly all related to crappy ammo.
