I removed the magazine disconnect and now my magazines spring out freely. It was a nice side effect.

I don't know why it would change. I guess the disconnect could be actually pinching the mag against the frame. But still, it made no difference on mine. Did you perhaps change out the mag release itself?

Also: Instead of modifying a washer or swapping out parts with a MkII, I just cut the legs off the spring and dremeled off the intercepting hook. Completely disabled and doesn't require as much precise modification of the washer.
no aftermarket mag release was installed

i prefer to keep the factory parts just in case i need to return it to original configuration.... a $10 vq mkII is a sound investment and wasnt difficult one bit . remove the factory mag disconnect assembly and replace it with the mkII bushing and put it all back together. im sure its easier than cutting, dremeling and the eventual searching for factory replacements if you needed to send the gun back to ruger. i did the mods due to the fact i didnt like sticking a mag in the gun just to let down the firing pin during maintenance... the rapid mag ejection was just an added bonus.

So, if I remove the disconnect, I won't have to put the empty mag in when reassembling it and pull the trigger while pointing it up and then down. Boy, I would sure hate missing having to do that.

MKIII 22/45 owner here and your assumption is 100% correct. You'll still have to do the trigger pull to orient the hammer correctly but that's it.

And FWIW - my mags never ONCE dropped free in my MKIII until I removed that wretched magazine safety disconnecter. Now they pop out like a semi auto magazine should, and with authority.
