    Gsg 5 barrel

Hi calgunners i have a question about my gsg 5 barrel. I was plinkering on saturday and one round of american federal blow up from the side near the striking point (lost shell cant show pics) the bullet stood in the barrel near the tip of the barrel. today i was trying to take the fake can off and it wouldnt come off and i was able to take of the top off of the can ( dont know how i did it cause it doesnt have any threads on it) and i was able to see that the barrel had a small bumb on it and in the inside of it had like a ring type in print on it . My question is how do i can i take care of this problem cause on the warrenty paper it says that they dont cover barrel obstruction. Is there any way of replaceing the barrel if they dont want to cover it. any help would be great thanx

Are you saying you had a squib load and fired another round right after that, resulting in a case rupture? Now the bullet (or two) are stuck in the barrel?

Yes i fired another round right after but after the second round it came out the barrel and it all clear now. i didnt know that the first round got stuck in the barrel which makes me think that thats the reason y my barrel has an inprint inside now

One reason it pays to know what a "normal" round going off sounds like. If you hear something is off, stop firing and investigate.

I had something like this happen to me using factory aluminum cased Blazer 9mm ammo in a Glock. Instead of the usual "bang", I heard a small "pop". I stopped shooting, cleared the weapon, and disassembled the gun. We removed the squib blocking the barrel with a cleaning rod.

Pay attention when shooting with friends, family. If you hear something is off, tell them to stop shooting, as per above. Not only may you save your gun, but you may save a finger, a hand, a limb, or a life.

yea your barrel is probably ruined. the squib isnt all that bad, but firing after one will cause big problems. just be glad it was a .22 and not .308

Before you decide that it's toast, take it to a gunsmith or someone who can tell you if it's still safe to fire or not. If it's safe, see how it shoots. We had a rental with a bulged barrel that shot just fine for years.

You can see if ATI can get you a new barrel. If not, keep looking. Sooner or later Numrich will start getting parts guns in.

ATI's customer service is pretty good. I'm sure you could buy a replacement barrel.
