it is a 10/22 receiver inside a shell. Uses the sme mages and trigger group, bolt and so on. Just a over priced Ruger 10/22.

I was thinking it will also, since they say it uses the 10/22 receiver, and comes with a rotary magazine (like the 10/22). Just wasn't sure. Thanks guys.

Show me how you can get a new 10/22 complete receiver assembly, heavy threaded barrel, metal chassis with rail, barrel shroud, and AR stock and grip adapter together for under $500.

It's not going to be to everyone's taste, but good luck getting a new 10/22 in a similar configuration for less.

Agreed. I have a 10/22 with a .920 barrel and Tapco stock and that allone has me close to $450.

I'm torn between one of these and a Remington 597 VTR (similar idea).

Will the SR-22 accept AR style hand guards?

While I do not have one but I read that it's still having issues with feeding. My brother had the regular 597 and he sold it to get the Marlin 795.

                  It's a 10/22... Why WOULDNT it accept 10/22 mags?

My buddy has the 597 VTR from the first time Turner's had it on sale. He and I put like 600 round through it. It seemed to do fine with high velocity stuff but we did see some FTFs with some cheapy ammo. Not unlike any of my .22 autos...

Came back from Angeles a few hours ago. 525 flawless rounds of Remington Golden BB and 100 rounds or Armscorps. Not a single hiccup.

After I got the Magpul MBUS dialed in at 25, I got my M3 clone set up. After that, it was like cheating. X ring after X ring.

Moved over the steel plates and the hits didn't stop. Looking forward to going to Oak Tree and playing on their gallery.

I have a Rem 597 VTR and so far I am not happy. Allot of FTE, FTF and alot of wasted ammo on the ground trying to get a new round in the chamber. This is using Remington Target Ammo (#6100) in it. I set it down and shot my Anschutz Bolt. Two friends had a 10/22 and Umarex Colt and both shot excellent, not the Remington 597 VTR sad to say.

I only had the Remington and Wolf ammo, so before I throw in the towel, I will try several other brands, hotter loads and give it a good cleaning. But new right out of the box, it has problems.

It looks cool, but looking cool doesn't go far if it isn't reliable. Most would agree. I took a look over at the Ruger SR-22, very nice and a proven action. I would like to get one.
Life's short and it's later than you think...
