Why is it necessary to use lightened spring when shooting dedicated 22 upper? Will the light spring still work if you change back to .223?

The light springs were made for the .223 in 3.5 & 4.5 lb pull They are for
semi auto only .The heavier springs [std] were designed for full auto.
For the .22 upper use a pistol hammer ,the un-notched one. It comes in all DPMS LPKs"America will never be destroyed from the outside.

The .22lr conversions and uppers are more sensitive to variances and tolerances, and can have cycling/feeding issues with standard LPK's.
The lightweight springs coupled with a non-notched hammers offer the best reliability. Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
