Went out and shot my gsg-5 for the first time. Had a blast, 3 bad jams. Lubed the hell out of it and the mags and seemed to go 200 more rounds till the next jam. (Its new, so I'll give it a break) But cleaning it in the field is a pain. Funky bolt design. Not quick like the good ol 10/22.

It's a fun little plinker.

Just make sure that when stripping it for cleaning you use the provided tool. Lots of people end of stripping the screw heads when not using the tool kit provided.

I'd suggest to anyone that's interested in preserving the integrity of their GSG is to get the screw upgrade from RRAGES and the HK push pins for a much easier take down. It'll set you back like $25 but after a few times disassembling the GSG using the factory screws the HK push pins pay for themselves! The aftermarket screws are steel and are less likely to strip out like the factory aluminum screws will.

I wouldn't advise trying to clean the GSG in the field. Way too many components to lose if you start disassembling in the field. If you're just looking to lube the barrel you might want to get a "patchworm" for quick and easy barrel work.

When I first got my GSG I cleaned it very thoroughly the first couple of times back from the range. Watch videos from "nutnfancy" on you tube he has some excellent GSG vids! But what I did to make clean ups easier is to use a "dry" lube on the internals. Most bulk ammo is very dirty, using lubricants like CLP and especially if you said you "lubed the hell out of it" I can just imagine the black mud you have.

Anyways, get those HK pins and the aftermarket screws....make that a priority over any other aftermarket upgrades to your GSG. You'll be glad you did!
