Novice rifle owner here....just picked up my GSG-5, I checked all the accessories that came with the package at the shop, and all is there. However, I just got home, and when I checked the rifle itself, the ejection port is open, regardless if the cocking lever is cocked or not! so am I screwed because I didn't check that part before I left?

dont panic, take the mag out and try cocking the lever back and let go. the breach wont close if the empty mag is in there.God Bless the Rimfire exemptions in CA! At lease we get to shoot something that looks 'Tacticool'

your welcome man, congrats on your purchase.
take the thing apart and make sure all the screws are tight and run a bore snake through it and clean the chamber, make sure there no metal pieces inside then lube it up. shoot 500 to 1000 CCI mini mags through it and clean the bolt and chamber every 250-500 rounds to be safe. (i know some ppl that do it every 1000) and you'll have a solid rifle. post some pix for us too
good luck

Before you take it apart ... READ THE MANUAL. You don't sound like you have that much baseline gun knowledge so if you don't feel comfortable taking it down, get some help. There are parts on those guns that can easily go missing and others that damage fairly easily. Congrats on the gun though and enjoy.Comment

Thats what he/she did...got some help from fellow calgunners... no need to shoot the guy/gal down just cuz he/she may not know the in's and outs of the GSG... for all we know he/she is an expert in another firearm platform. I can field strip the gsg all day long...hand me a ruger mk series and I will screw it all up!Before you take it apart ... READ THE MANUAL. I advise newbies to look at the take down and screw upgrade videos. if you can bring your laptop and do a step by step with the video. its very informative and the guy breaks it down to the last screw.

Was not trying to shoot you down, gamma105. I was trying to be helpful. Sorry if I came across wrong. Another poster seems to think I was being a smart a** and I did not mean to be. I am sorry if I offended you or the other poster. It was not my intent. Enjoy your new rifle!Comment
