AR15 CMMG Rimfire Conversion Kit

Recently bought a CMMG .22lr rimfire conversion kit along with two ten round magazines (one from CMMG the other from Black Dog). Took it to the range and I had a few issues. The CMMG would not lock into my magwell. It would constantly slide out. The Black Dog magazine would lock in place but would only fire one or two rounds before the bullet fed vertically and jammed the bolt group. The guy in the lane next to me saw that I had problems and mentioned that he had the exact same issue with his CMMG rimfire conversion kit. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if they had solutions to remedy this. Otherwise I'm out 200 dollars for a hunk of metal.

#1: load one less round into your mags. I had trouble getting my BDM mags to stay in the magwell until I started down-loading them by one round.

#2: check that the BDM mag's feedlips are clean. If the insides are rough or dirty, they will grab the rim of the round as it is feeding and then pull it vertical as the bolt slams shut.

So it may be the carrier going forward too fast?

yep, this is the exact problem that I have. called cmmg, but they provided little help.

i have no issues with mine, tried three different kinds of ammo and all is well.

My father and I both have the same kit and mine worked fine and his did this same thing as yours did. I took a look at his and he had not lubed his as I did. I put a good shot of clp, the only spray type stuff I had at the time and the problem went away. I think these kits have to run kind of wet. May help you, worth a try..

I have a bone stock mil spec lower, middle of the road 16" upper and when I dropped in a used Ceiner conversion kit it worked great. I have 3 BDM mags, and always fill them to capacity (10) I have yet to have an issue. I did a little ammo research before hand and have been running the American Eagle .22 ammo without any issues. Fairly accurate too.
