    legality of 10/22 folding stock

    I was contemplating buying a butler creek folding stock for my ruger 10/22, much like this one here http://www.combatstocks.com/images/b...2_folder_1.jpg. But I'm not 100% sure how legal this would be. Any insight?

    Perfectly legal as long as the overall length of the firearm is 26in with the stock folded.
    God, grant me the serenity
    To accept the things I cannot change;
    The courage to change the things I can;
    And the wisdom to know the difference.

            Use an 18" barrel to make minimum length. 16" is too short.

                  It must be 16" barrel and 26" OAL, not 28", to not be considered an SBR. And CA case law states that the 26" measurement must be taken with the firearm in its shortest fireable configuration.

                  Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

                    same dimensions for centerfire as well isn't it? excluding the other evil features, they are all 16" bb and 26" overall length centerfire or rimfire,right?

                      Right, rimfire and centerfire rifles both have to comply with the 16"/26" dimensions, lest they be an SBR. Shotguns are the same, except that the barrel must be 18" and have an OAL of 26", lest they be an SBS.

                      Now, semi-automatic centerfire rifles have a secondary 30" OAL requirement, lest they be an AW.
