Looks like a winner, better than that SR-22 they had earlier.

I like it! MSRP is $555, so hopefully they'll be around $400-450

            Wow... NICE!

Ruger is really starting to get sh*t right these days.

            I would definitely take one.

It's nothing we can do ourselves already. A short bull barrel, trigger kit, and a new stock.

                Whoop dee doo!

10/22s are inexpensive, however almost every 10/22 I've seen the mods with cost more than the rifle itself. I think the pricing is fair on this one with a new barrel and stock. It saves time building it yourself, however you could probably build the same for less. It doesn't state whos barrel they used on Ruger's site.

But you probably can't do it for less money than what this costs. Especially if it comes with that bipod.

                        DIY pricing:

                        10/22...$200
                        Hogue stock...$75
                        GM 16" bull barrel...$125
                        VQ target hammer...$35
                        Extended mag release....$15
                        Weigand mount...$20
                        Harris bipod...$80
                        TOTAL....$550

Pretty ho-hum design, however, especially compared to some of the more exotic RFC "ultimate" builds.

You're not taking into account Rugers exceptionally high MSRP's compared to their street price.

At $550 that gun will actually sell for more like $400-$450.

So while you might be able to DIY for MSRP, you won't be able to DIY for the street price.

Oh, I wasn't saying either way, just putting the DIY numbers out there for comparison. True, you'll prolly save a bill buying Ruger's set-up, but you won't get to choose different stock/barrel flavors, either (which is half the fun!)....

It doesnt say anywhere that it's a "Harris" bipod.

What are the chances it's that chinese copy that goes for like $30.

I think it's cool Ruger is paying attention to the market and trends and releasing products accordingly.

I would rather build my own off a standard 10/22.

                              10/22 $150 ( bought 2 a couple yrs ago!)
Green Mountain 16" barrel $85 on sale
                              Modified origional stock- free
                              harris brms $90
                              VQ hammer $33

                              total about $360
