    Blocking Black Dog Magazines?

Can you block a 27 round BDM mag to only accept 10? I've never opened one before. Thanks.

Why? You can buy factory 10rd'ers that are in the 27rd length. They come with an internal block.

Besides, if you've got a 27rd'er, why would you block it?

BDM no longer makes 10rders in a 27rd mag body.

Neither does CMMG (they have it in a 20rd body).

I was gonna try that but kept on looking for the discontinued ones. They say "10 round only" on the side molded into the body.

Found 4 for sale here. I bought all four for a future pistol. You should be able to find one here in the WTS or post a WTB.

You could drill a hole for a pin of some sort or rivit.
The bullet is pointing to the pin that is molded into the body.

I enjoy running the actual 27rd'ers

I think I got rid of all my 10's.

Hmmmm....I've got a couple of old GI hi-caps that I might rebuild into 27 rd. .22 cal. mags. Thanks for the reminder!

qbertquartz2, do you have a pix of the magazine disassembled?

                If they're USGI 223/556 hi-caps, then you can't.

If they're USGI .22 conversion hi-caps or old ceiner hi-caps, then you can.

Can't have more than 10rds for a new AR pistol.

I had one in a pm but I erased it.
The spring is circular in it's own housing, so you can move the block pin forward where the "a and c in the word black" are. It is farther back I believe because molding it near the edge in the body would make it stronger. For a pin or rivit type it will work fine. Still less hassle if you can find an original one.

If I'm going to build an AR pistol and have to deal with 10rd's and a bullet button, there's no way in hell I would build a .22lr.

                    I'm thinking .458 Socom though..

Yes you can easily block a 27 round BDM to 10 rounds. I needed a 10 round mag for my .22 dedicated AR rifle, and had a few BDM kits, so I sacrificed one.I used one of those round plastic hangers and cut it to the proper size. I heated it with a butane torch to get the proper curve. Remove the bottom plate on the BDM and insert the cut piece of hanger inside the spring. Re-install the plate and epoxy it in place.

That would be cool. Maybe you could even go on a hunt with that pistol!

It won't be anytime soon but I want a mk18 mod1 clone with a multi cal pistol lower and 22lr conversion kit mainly keeping it in 22lr with 223 as an option..

That's how I thought they were blocked originally since the molded in block is hard to see.

You're going to have to move outside of CA to do that.

forgot to put 'pistol' marked lower.

The dd mk18 rail is pretty nice. Makes it look like a low budget HK416.
