    10/22 "short" magazines

Is there a magazine for the 10/22 that will properly feed 22 shorts?

Doesn't that HAVE to be used with their super-$$$$$ short conversion kit or is that only if you want it to cycle automatically? I don't mind manually cycling the action to eject and load, but having those shorts stovepipe or jam into the front of the mag, is a PITA.

That I don't know...I'm assuming you have to have the conversion kit.

Yeah, that's going to be a no-go. Hopefully someone here has tried it and can enlighten me!

Why do you want to shoot shorts? I shoot sub sonic Remington's, They feed fine and are as quiet as shorts.

Without getting into an ammo-showdown, suffice it to say there is a specific application I'm trying to fill and a particular brand of shorts has show the BEST performance in that application, hands-down. I have a Ruger 10/22 that has a significant amount of money invested in it and I'd prefer not to go buy another gun just to shoot these shorts. Normally, I shoot standard-length 22LR (mainly Wolf/SK) which have treated me very well.

The Magazines will feed shorts just fine. But with the stock bolt the action will not cycle on its own because it is too heavy. I don't know if the shorts you are planning on using have enough energy to move the bolt, if it does you may get short stroking and stovepiping on ejection anyway. But the shorts should feed through the mag just fine.

Just get a new bolt and recoil spring and rod. Drill the bolt a little and cut the spring so it just holds the bolt closed and work from there on bolt weight and spring tension till it cycles. Ruger bolts are cheap and easy to get and you keep the original parts to restore to normal.
