    10/22 in Bay Area

Where is the cheapest place in the Bay Area to get a new basic 10/22? Also, what would be the approximate cost?

Well, I got my stainless barrel synthetic stock 10/22 rifle from Big 5 for $280 on sale plus taxes and fees, so it worked out to about $340. Yes, I realize that's very expensive but I found nothing cheaper around here. One place north of the Golden Gate bridge had the stones to quote me over $500, but most places are around ~$280-$300. If you want the blued barrel with the wood stock, you can buy it for about $30-40 cheaper.

EDIT: One more point - I have seen cheaper a little further inland (supposedly $250 somewhere in the central valley but they never had any in stock) but living on the peninsula it simply isn't worth the gas, bridge tolls and time to go back and forth with the ten day waiting period and all of the documentation I need to fill out to do two trips out there.

Bay Area gun Vault has 10/22's in stock for under $250 and plenty of Tactical Solutions accessories to trick your stuff out. I took out my TacSol 10/22 out to 250+ yards and it was amazingly accurate.

True. Most cheap 10/22 are NOT in the Bay Area/Peninsula. Big 5 isn't so cheap any more. Bass Pro in Manteca is the cheapest I've found that advertises. As for Sports Authority, none in the SF Bay Area sells ammo or firearms. Maybe further out pass San Jose or Eastward toward Concord?

(Edit: Looks like the Sports Authority in Concord - Airport Center actually has a Firearms/Hunting Department!)

If you can plan your vacation to So Cal, I would watch those ads from Turners and Ade.
#1 Right after you arrive by plane, run to the store, buy the rifle(s)
            #2 Go enjoy your vacation (Disneyland/Sea World/Beach)
#3 Remember to pick up rifle 10 days later (along with FAA approved rifle case)
            #4 Come home happy!

            NORCAL NEEDS CHEAP 10/22s!!!

I just called the Concord Sports Authority (see above) five minutes ago.
                  Blue with wood stock: $239.99
                  Stainless with synthetic stock: $249.99

Not bad for the stainless, but I'll wait for that "$199" for the blued one.

Is the sale price good at all Sports Authorities? Because Concord gave me a different price. I'll have to call Vacaville and Concord tomorrow.

Big5 in Davis had them on sale for $179 when I was getting my Marlin 925 there. Those $250+ prices seem kinda high to me.... but I dono.
