    New here

Hey guys, I bought a Marlin 925 last week and I will be picking it up this Saturday. It is my first weapon so far. I live in the area of Sacramento, and checked local ranges. The only place to go plinking that I know of is like 25 miles away, past Auburn.... Does anybody know any places closer to Sacramento itself where shooting is allowed? Thank you!

Well, we have like 3-4 shooting ranges around here, but they charge like $15 each, and showing up without heavy ear protection there is simply painful. I live in the suburb and thought maybe there is a wild place nearby where I could shoot cans and plastic bottles Oh and thanks for welcoming.

If we were in AZ or NV then yeah you could pretty much pull over anywhere off the side of the road (fed land) and shoot some cans, bottles etc....But this is Kalifornia! So unless you have permission to shoot on someones private land then you are pretty limited to shooting at ranges with $15 fees and eye/ear protection is a must! Alot of ranges have memberships if you plan on shooting every week then you might want to consider paying for a membership to save money.

From what I hear that range you speak of up in Auburn will allow you to set up different types of targets ie bottles. fruits etc. So consider yourself lucky cause all I can shoot is paper

Yea, central valley is all sold out to farmers. I went shooting with friends this saturday, but that was 30 miles away from Tahoe and towards Sacramento.... That's a 50 mile drive for free shooting Another friend told me about that hilly area past Auburn, so I guess I will be driving there everytime for a little fun. Still, about 30 miles ....
