    .22 Revolver

Got my single action! A three screw Ruger Single Six. Shopping for one now. Please see ad - http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=220211

Now I'm looking for info on this double action seen below...

I really like this pistol. It's not listed on the CA DOJ roster, and is not except (AFAIK) since it's a double action. Where can I find one?

Am I limited to PPT only?

I'm looking for a single action revolver that shoots .22 short, long, and long rifle. I would prefer stainless steel and fixed sights. Hopefully in the $300 range, but prefer quality over price.

This would be used as a trailside gun and a range gun at 25 yards.

My father owns a Ruger Single Six, and I like it very much. For aesthetic purposes I would like to get a similar looking gun but with no rear sight and that bladed front sight.

I like this gun here (see below) but it's not listed on the CA DOJ handgun roster. Is there a gun that looks like that but is listed?

Heritage Arms 6 Round 22 Long Rifle Revolver 6 1/2" Barrel

    Thanks!
    Jason

      Oh, I hadn't known. Awesome.

Well then, what's the news on Heritage Arms? Never heard of them before... (off to run a Google search too)

If you were closer, I'd sell you mine. I have a couple of single sixes so, I don't need my HA anymore. Anyway, the HA is a cheap knock off of a single six but, it's not bad for the price.

Just looked into it and saw it has an aluminum frame on some of their guns. Also their "stainless" models apparently look like too much paint up close, but from far away looks like bead-blasted stainless...

It's tempting to have as a "disposable", but I'm gonna keep asking/looking around for a higher quality model. I want a gun that I will pass down onto my future kid(s).

Then find a clean Single Six with both cylinders and you won't be sorry.

to be honest i would steer clear of the heritage single six...i have one that looks just like a ruger single six and i wish it was...the safety on my heritage broke but the gun was so cheap i have no plan on fixing it...also it shoots really high due to the extra large front blade...and overall the finish is poor and the action isnt to crisp....you get what you pay for with the heritage...save up and get a ruger

That's exactly what I am going to do.

Searching around I found exactly what I wanted... a Ruger Single Six three screw with (preferably) a 6 1/2" barrel.

Still curious what information there is about the S&W Model 18. Is it legal in CA?

Thanks Btango! I PM'd the seller, said he wouldn't be up here until December at the earliest. He'll let me know if it doesn't sell by then.

Anyway, still want to buy a Ruger three screw Single Six. WTB ad here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=220211

Give me a heads up if you've got one you'd like to sell!

                    Thanks,
                    Jason

Another .22 wheel gun you may want to consider is the S&W Model 617. I just got one, 4 inch with 10 shot cylinder and am having a ball with it. Great shooter and the ammo is the right price...and it has the capacity of a Ruger Mark or Browning Buckmark. Well made, solid (full lug), gun.

Bingo I have one also, and its a very good shooting gun!
Just for info Hi Viz makes front sights for them now. The problem is there NOT pre drilled I am going to get one anyway, and have a smith install it!

I can't even imagine how sweet it will be with good sights there on the Hi Viz web site!

                          Enjoy

Cool revolver. Looks overly big for my wants though. And expensive too! Almost $1,000 for a rimfire revolver. Colt 1911's cost less!

I was considering the 617 and I called my local gun shop but no one had them except River City Gun Exchange in Sacramento which is an hour north. I bought a used model 17 that I pick up this Friday My next "gotta have" is a Colt Diamondback 6" .22 (shooter not safe queen) so if you know someone shoot me a pm!

The money you will save in ammo will make up for the 617's hefty price tag... figure a box of .357 avg these days is $25 for 50 rounds that's 50 cents a round!!! You can pretty much find CCI minimags anywhere and even at their inflated $10 price tag for 100 rounds you're still only paying .10 a round for quality ammo. If you can find the bulk packs of Federal ammo at Walmart of 375 for about $11.47 you're paying about .03 a round. Put simply you'll save $400(or better) for every 1000 rounds!!!

I have several caliber pistols but since the ammo gouging I've been shooting primarily .22's . Well the other week I found some .40 at Walmart for $13 a box of 50, I found I enjoyed shooting my .22's more than the .40. Point is even after people settle down and ammo becomes more readily available I will continue to shoot mostly .22.

I've also noticed I can shoot longer than most people. I see people get to the range, pay $15 fee for the range and shoot all their ammo up in less than an hour. I'm usually at the range for at least 2 hours and still have ammo to take home!

                              Sorry long winded post....
