It would look cool if it accepts a full size mag. Even the 10/22 looks cool with a arch angel kit but those skinny mags make it look like its missing something.

I searched on google and youtube but couldn't find any review on it. How reliable is this thing compare to gsg5 or the colt m4?

I went into Turner's yesterday with a pocket full of money to possibly buy a GSG-5SD and saw this Remington 597 VTR. Side by side to be honest the Remy seemed better built. But the cool factor is still way higher with the GSG. Unfortunately the only GSG left was display model so I ended up leaving empty handed wth the intentions of doing some research on the Remy 597 Vtr once I got here! Im actually thinking of a 10-22 with the Tommy kit after seeing the GSG and the 597 in person.

Yeah, saw this at the last Gun show in OC. Felt pretty good. The magazine clip was smaller than the Ruger 10 rnd stock magazine. I'm not sure if Rem will come out with a banana type clip for this model.

remington 597 already has 30rd magazines in 22lr. Im sure you can mod a ar mag body into the magazine since it drops straight down.

I have a 597, with mods less than 50 dollars. it is MORE ACCURATE, Just as reliable with new mags, Finish is better, and the gun feels better stock than a stock 10/22.

But the 10/22 has a crapload of aftermarket stuff.

              10/22 + arch angel = $500 +/-

                remington 597 vtr

this is a great gun. i bought mine in ontario for 405.00 plus tax then added a bushnell scope and 30 round mag.
it works great as long as you don't put bulk winchesters from wal mart through it.
it will eat anything else and i tried about 6 different types the first time i tried it with only fte from the winchesters. the firing pin mark is on the rim but no bang!
                crappy ammo, not crappy gun.
it's very heavy, has a heavy barrel and is quite accurate. I have no complaints with this gun at all other than it's hard to find a bipod to fit it because the swivel studs are so close to the end of the forestock giving the bipods no room to sit on the stock. i picked up 30 round mags from lebarons for 13.00 a piece, they;re on special right now.
i disliked the adjustable stock, i got the fixed a2 stock, i thought the collabsable stock looked like cheap plastic, but that's just my opinion.
it's a pretty cool looking gun and if you type my user name here into youtube, i have a few very short hi def videos there.
feel free to ask questions if you need more convincing!
