    Converting GSG5 22rnd Magazine into a 10 rounder???

I just ordered two ProMag 10 round mags for my yet to be picked up GSG5. I paid $25 each + shipping. I've seen 22 rounders for $15 which irks me to no end.

So my question is, assuming I can find an out of state dealer willing to help:

    a) can the 22 rounder magazines be disassembled into rebuild kits for shipping to CA?

    b) can you legally ship a rebuild kit for a magazine that didn't exist prior to 2001?

    c) can the 22 round version be modified to make a 10 rounder for legal use in CA?

    thanks in advance.

    a) yes. parts are legal to ship to CA.
    b) yes. see above.
    c) yes. that is why you can ship the parts to CA. [see PC 12020(c)(25)(A)]

    Penal Code 12020
(c)(25) As used in this section, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
    (A) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
    (B) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
    (C) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.

      Cool. I appreciate the info.

I guess I should have asked #1 a little differently by saying:

Can the ProMag 22 Round magazine be disassembled or is it welded or rivetted in such a way that it can not be broken down into components?

I think you could install a roll pin and put a dab of epoxy over it, I remember seeing it done somewhere. Also this place has rebuild mags, but they seem super expensive. Ive ordered alot of mags and ammo through them, very quick shipping to san diego.

Chunky lover - Thanks for the info. Yeah, $40 defeats the purpose of trying to save a few bucks. Maybe one of my red state relatives can help me out.
