Maybe the person drove the pin in way hard and wrong way.
Or slammed the buttstock on the ground hard. Never know.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

You can correct my spelling and grammar error anytime.
I welcome it. How else would I learn.

That is NOT from recoil for SURE. If they will not warranty it I can weld that thing and make it look 80% of perfect... maybe better if I can do it from inside the lower...

I bet he took a mallet to the pin too hard while the rifle was on a uneven surface. 100% enduser fault. I was at the range today shooting my Colt and there were two other guys shooting theirs a few stalls down. They came up and asked my " We were noticing you liked breezed through lots of rounds without any issues? " after some small talk, it turns out they didnt even bother to clean their guns before bring it to the range. I asked out of curiosity why didnt they clean their rifles before using it? Answer was, because it's a new gun These are the type people who are having typical problems with their new toys. Its a total joke!

Hey Brassburnz! the trigger polish does provide a nice crisp feel, gone through another 400 kill lots of water filled bottles. Ill try doing the spring swap this week. As for the hammer rerturn spring, I'll think I will leave that alone, dont wanna create any light strike issues.

I hope that's manmade abuse and not material failure under otherwise normal
            conditions. Pete

They must have cast those receivers out of Surplus U.S. Navy mess hall utensils.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

I agree, that certainly does not look like a wear and tear problem. It will be interesting to see if they have more of these problems pop up.

to me it looks like some idiot took a screwdriver and placed it under the charging handle in between the upper and lower and started prying on it in an attempt to get it to come apart

Last time I saw something like that, it was an airsoft M4 that had been fallen upon. The construction of the Colt/Umarex is, well, much like an airsoft rifle with the action in place of a mechbox. It even looks like a mechbox. Doesn't say much for the quality of this piece of equipment, I'm afraid.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I like the fact that calgunners are "Purists" for AR-15's!!??!!?? I don't even remotely understand that comment. Here it is at the bottom of that page:

(Quoted 2 people from the above link)
I posted a link to this thread on Calguns.net People keep chiming in how their ARs have thousands of rounds through them and how strong their lower receivers are. I'm constantly posting that the Umarex is NOT an AR, it only looks like one.

It looks to me like the right side of the stock got whacked, but if that didn't happen, who knows what caused it.

Some will never understand that its not an AR, it just looks like one.

fellers over there are AR purists, no change in concept allowed.

Edit: Just posted over there for good measure. I've pretty much been a lurker there and really wanted to get into smallbore when I realized the gun I want is going to cost more than an AR will. Still waiting for a tony Kidd rifle one of these days.

Yeah, it looks like that to me too. It's possible the owner was trying to field strip the rifle, and the upper was stuck on the lower after removing the rear pin, so they tried to pry it apart with something where you said.

I field stripped and cleaned my brand new Colt/Umarex yesterday for the first time, and the upper was stuck pretty tight on the lower after loosening the flash hider and removing the rear pin.

I know the supposed owner said he noticed the crack while shooting, but posting the truth on a public message board might be grounds for a voided warranty. Just sayin'
