    Tactical Solution Upper or Spike's

I've been following few threads on the Tacsol upper and Spike's so far I'm leaning towards Tacsol. Seems that they are both fairly reliable and functions well with Federal bulk ammo. Although Spike's was the rage up to couple of months ago, with the introduction of Tacsol they seems to have been overshadowed by the Tacsol hype.

They both seems to be equal in quality and build but as far as the accuracy, Tacsol seems to have a slight edge ... or at least that's the impression I get by reading up on few threads and comments. So is the difference in the bolt carrier/barrel feed design that makes Tacsol a slightly better upper or is there more to it? Are there any other common issue with Tacsol other than falling O ring??

I know everyone have their preference and having to invest $500+ you would be more inclined to defend your irrational decision on a new toy, but I would like to hear some objective point of view.

So is this another "newest on the scene" syndrome or is Tacsol really any better than Spike's.. or is it just another .22lr upper?

    Hi Yasushi,

I believe the two 22 uppers are quite similar as I believe they both based upon the Atchison design. I have not tried a TS, but I do have a basic M4 profile Spikes that had some initial teething issues in the first ~300 rounds. The following 1000 rounds have been nothing but fun. I have had two fte since. I have used Minimags and Golden Bullets only.

From what I have gathered by looking at various forums about the initial hicups is the recoil spring being stiff. It works its way out as you put some downrange as mine has.

In regards to customer service my only interaction was when they called me up to inform me the Magpul handguard I chose was not available and asked me if I wanted to wait for some arrive or just use an M4 one. I chose the later and they refunded me the difference promptly and received the upper a few days later. I'm happy.

I'm sure someone will chime in about a TS upper.

Although I only have TacSol upper, as I know, the difference For the M4 22LR uppers are:

Spike tactical uses: Green Mountain barrel, nickel finished bolt.
TacSol uses: Mike rock barrel, Stainless bolt.

Other than those, they are pretty much same. The CS for both companies are top notch. The price I think TacSol is little bit cheaper if you buy from online dealers (as I was researching those two products a few months ago).

P.S. PM me if you want try my TacSol upper some day.

Get a TacSol, its very accurate even at 100yds with Wolf Match Target ammo shooting 1 MOA.
