    Suppressors for air rifles.

Had read somewhere that suppressors for air rifles were legal in California. Was wondering if that was accurate? And if so, how would one purchase, and mount one?

    Why would you bother?

"Suppressors" are illegal without correct paperwork period. There is a gray (or grey?) area for airguns.
Some manufacturers have manage to import airguns with permanent suppressors installed.

      Gamo whisper
      Air Force Talon SS
      Logun
      FX

      And a bunch of others.

There is a huge following of crosman shooters who have bought and made "Shrouds" and "LDC (lead dust collector). Both of these reduce sound.

a guy got 15 years in prison for mailing a airgun with a shroud.

Just the facts. take it with a grain of salt.

Michael A. Crooker was found guilty, last Wednesday, of illegally making a silencer. He faces a mandatory sentence of 15 years in federal prison. The case was followed by Massachusets newspaper The Republican.

From what I understand from the airgun boards, if they can remove an airgun shroud and make it work by any means on a firearm (this includes duct taping it to the muzzle of a .22), then you are guilty of manufacturing a firearms suppressor. It just doesnt seem worth it to me, unless the rifle was manufactured with a permanent shroud and bought legally in California. I'd love to shroud my Discovery, as it is as loud as a 22 short, but I'll live with the noise...

I find it funny that supressors on airguns are almost required in the UK, even though they have stricter gunlaws than we do.

I just shoot CB Long's out of my 22. It's quieter than most air guns. Are you trying to shoot multiple varmints without them scattering, or trying to get rid of the neighbors cat?

Because they have health and safety laws. To protect their hearing, they can have suppressors.
