I had a P22, and didn't like it much. I have also read bad stuff about the Mosquito. How about a Buckmark?

I just bought a slightly used p22 and it's pretty nice. It was the shorter barrel model. It shot remington high velocity ammo real well. I shot some winchester bulk high velocity but it didn't cycle well at all. I was able to hit metal plate at 100yrds. The accuracy was better than what I expected. A small fist size group at 15 yards. It has a light trigger when in single action. Not a bad gun at all. It has a fixed barrel that I think helps contribute to it's accuracy. Over all not a bad little gun at all.

Buckmark or Ruger MkII/MkIII are much, much better than P22 and Mosquito. More accurate, more reliable, and will last much longer.

I agree, and that's why I own a Ruger MKII, but they are also totally different kinds of guns and that's why I also own a Mosquito

I had both the Walther P22 and a Sig Mosquito, I much preferred the Sig even though it was more ammo sensitive than the Walther. Sig though just came out with 22lr versions of their P220,226 and 229. I bought the 229 version and it is light years ahead of the Mosquito. The lower is a real P229 lower so the trigger is great. For around $500 this represents a big step up for Sig. You can actually buy cernterfire uppers for all versions too which makes them twice as versatile. My Walther P22 and Sig Mosquito are gone now and the new Sig P229 22lr has replaced them both.

I have to add this about a few 22's I have. The P22 is a nice lightweight pistol and my 617 is a very nice shooting revolver....with that said, I also have a S&W 22A1....it's a tack driver from HE** I understand there are more accurate pistols, but I would put up mine with the best of them!

Did I get a good one? don't really know? I love this pistol, and it's a keeper. I thought about getting a 41 but the price was a bit high. I will try to send a pic?

                      P22 not accurate?
I am no Daniel Boone and it shoots real well for me.
The size is smallish if you have big mitts but it was for my kids and they took to it right off the bat.
Adjustable grip panel inserts and swappable front sight too.
I use Remington subsonic or CCI subsonic and cycles reliably.
Just clean and lube properly to enjoy.

My P22 functions quite well for me and is my favorite firemarm.
The last outing saw ~2000 rounds w/o a problem and everybody that shot the pistol loved it.
