Used S&W 617 what's it worth? Pics added

I have a chance to get a S&W 617-6 6" stainless. From what I know it is well used but in good condition. I've been wanting a double action for a while but just haven't pulled the trigger so to speak. I can get it at a pretty good price I think I just don't know what they are worth. It does come with the original box which for me is a bonus. Oh and it's not a prelock. Thanks in advance.

When I picked it up. It was really dirty.

Nice and clean. Lock delete, larger cyl release and fiber optic front sight. It would have new grips but they sent me the wrong ones.

Most that I have seen listed the last few years have been like $700-750. Not sure if they actually got that price.

They're about 1200 ootd here new. They last a lifetime. I don't see them for sale very often used, cause people usually keep them. I think anything less than 1000 would be fair depending on condition.

The only thing you can really do to them is bugger up the cylinder dry firing, that would be my only real concern buying a used 617

If you do get it, Apex sells a hammer kit for it that is kickass. I run one in my 4" and its great.

So $350 would be a good deal?

              Yes.
              Make sure it's not stolen.

It's not stolen. It's a range gun that the owner is selling. Like I said it's well used but shoots fine. After I buy it, I was going to contact S&W and see how much they would charge to go over it and fix or replace anything that needs to be done that's why I was wondering what it's worth so I don't spend to much if it needs a major repair.

About treefiddy is always a deal. But if it ain't broke don't fix it. Sounds like you were able to try it out first. Maybe replace old grips with some nice Altamont grips though. I love the 10 shot cylinder in my 617. Excellent trigger, adjustable rear sight and very accurate. Beware you may soon want to get a 686 to shoot 38/357 next.

Looks nice. I'm already looking for grips because the rubber ones on it a little worn and I'd like a nice set of wood grips for it.

                          Killer deal.

The only caveat is that the 4 inch version balances better.
