a friend decided to get into shooting... I never thought he would buy a gun...
After going broke shooting 6.5CM he started going broke shooting 22LR
I think he is on his 3rd 22 bench gun
I say this as were were having a discussion on wind shift.
The twist rate does not really have any effect on how a bullet is drifted by the wind.
He was told that the number of lands / grooves DOES impact the wind shift.
the rifling slightly deforms the smooth bullet.... the size and shape of the projectile helps determine how the round is moved by the wind...
So same ammo
Same barrel length
Same twist rate
if the rifle has 3-8 grooves, the number of grooves can impact how the wind moves the bullet.
Is anyone here a serious bench rest / F class shooter????
Have you heard or read about the number of grooves increasing or decreasing how a bullet is moved by the wind?
