    10/22 Folding Stocks?

    Hi guys,

I'm looking to make a lightweight-ish backpack 10/22, and i've decided on a folding stock of some sort. I've narrowed it down to the Butler Creek, Choate, or ATI folding stocks. Which is the hive mind opinion on these stocks?

Furthermore, by using these stocks, will I still be within the overall length rules? With an 18.5 inch stock barrel? With the 16 inch compact stock barrel?

    Thanks a bunch!

I have exactly the same questions. Would love for those who are well-informed to let the rest of us know what's up.

As boho said, the Butler Creek is solid, but it is a bit on the heavy side. From what I've seen online, the Butler Creek will be OK with an 18" barrel but not a 16". The quick measurement they did at the shop had mine (18" barrel) at right around 28"; I'm not sure exactly since it was a quick measure. I'll measure it tomorrow when I unpack (just moved) and get my tape measure out.

Cool, thanks for that. As for the weight of the stock, i'm more than willing to give up a little weight for the sake of durability and steadiness. This certainly sounds like the stock for me. Does anyone have any other opinions on that or the other stocks?

I'll keep my eyes open for your measurements, thanks for doing it!

I don't have any experience with their rimfire stocks but ATI shotgun folders are garbage.

I'm looking into getting an ATI Strikeforce stock . It collapses and folds! I just want to get a good deal on it. Shipping usually kills it for me.

Yeah, it appeals to me too, because it'll allow the wife to shoot it more comfortably, but then again, having an excuse to make another 10/22, this one with a collapsible stock, sounds pretty nice too.

Measured at 27 3/4" folded length with 18" barrel.
16" barrel will be a little too short.

If you want a really lightweight 10/22, look into the tactical solutions barrels. I don't know if it will be long enough with the Butler creek stock though. It saves a lot of weight and is still very accurate. I like mine.

Mine (Butler Creek) measured out to 27 1/4" folded.

Q: Anyone measure out a Ruger 10/22 mounted in an M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine stock?

I've seen an example of this and it looks pretty awesome.
FWIW, Choate also makes a folding stock.

I put mine together and upgraded the sight, some bolt work, etc. and I am really happy with it. I am using the Butler Creek folder.

That's my 1022 setup too, but I also have a sling on mine.
The setup is a beaut, easy to stash/pack and the stock is really sturdy.

Wow guys, thanks much for all the feedback, looks like i'm going with the Butler Creek one, eh? The question is, should I use a blued or stainless steel 10/22 base with a blued or stainless steel stock?

                              Opinions?
