Strange Ruger Mark III problem, Ideas?

I went to the range with my new Sig Mosquito (the one that's supposed to give people problems), and my new Ruger Mark III Target. The sig shot everything I put into it even from the 2 extra plastic magazines. The Ruger on the other hand; and I have a Mark II field model that works great. Gave me nothing but grief. It shot straight as a dime, but......

When I fire my Mark III and the firearm goes into battery, the bolt will close, the round will fully chamber but the sear will not set. This happens every 10 to 25 rounds. I keep the trigger fully depressed and release the trigger and there is just no sear set. Both were fully cleaned and lubricated before going out to shoot.

This condition occurs with all three of my magazines and with CCI mini-mags, Winchester Western 22 LR and Remington Thunderbolt ammunition.

I can reproduce this condition by dry firing the pistol, after cleaning and reassembly.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

If you have a pre-travel screw, try letting it out a couple turns and try again.

      I'll give that a try.

I'll give that a try. I think it takes a little allen wrench to adjust it?

Same thing can happen if you try to take all the overtravel out of the trigger.

          I should have asked first

I should have known (I'm new to this board) that there would be people who would know about this stuff.

I should ask before I get out the old blow torch, chain saw and hammer. Sometimes I'm a bit impatient about these things.

Yes, an allen wrench. The pre-travel screw is the one at the top of the trigger, likely in at an angle.
