I am no 17hmr expert, but here is what I did. Ordered a Tikka T1x with 16-inch barrel, which I pick up in four days.
    Mountain Tactical 20MOA rail.
KRG Bravo chassis with adjustable buttplate assembly.
8-inch mlok picatinny rail for foreend.
    Arken SH4J 6-24x50 MIL/MIL.
    Arken 34mm high rings
    Arken throw lever
    Vortex bubble level
Lumley polished carbon fiber bolt knob with polished handle.
    Lowey barrel tuner

Tikka triggers are generally good --I have a T1x 22lr and T3x 308 -- so will likely just adjust the factory trigger and be satisfied.
    We shall see.

I looked at the BCA uppers but with all the reported problems, I took a hard pass.

I was originally a hard pass with bca upper but so far so good it seems with a 5oz buffer so it?s back on the table

Angrysnarf, have you purchased a BCA 17HMR upper? If so, I would love to hear how it is going for you. If they operate and are accurate, then they are a very attractive option.

I have 3 17 hmr rifles, a single shot handi rifle, a cz 457, and a Winchester 9417. The handi and cz have leupold 3-9 efr scopes, which I think is pretty decent for its price point. I liked it enough to buy a second. The only downside is at 100 yards on paper even with a shoot and see target the tiny .17 holes aren?t so visible to me.

The Winchester 9417 I have a leupold 4x mounted, but am considering just going with a peep sight. The fixed 4x is pretty light and doesn?t negatively impact the handling of the rifle much, but I really need to replace the rear sight to get it mounted as low as I?d like.

              Mueller Eraticator.

You can actually see the holes if you crank it all the way up.

              It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

I have a 2 Savage 17hmr rifles. Used mainly as a truck gun shooting squirrels, I have a 3x9 Leupold on one and a primary Arms 2.5-10 on another. Both scopes and rifles performing as they should.

if you want more reach for shooting small pests, go 17HMR.
If you need to dispatch a bit larger animals and are ok with less range (due mostly to less precision in the cartridge) go .22WMR.

I have a Ruger 17HMR American Rimfire for 3 years now with 22" barrel. I have been able to do 1-2 moa at 100 yards on a good day with a 4X scope. I could never see the holes at 100 yards until I approached the target. Never shot an animal or a creature. There are people who claim they have dropped coyotes at 150 yards. While tall tales are abundant, you have to be the judge of what you like about the round. I like the flat trajectory. Don't have to click the scope elevation for every 25 yards. I am impressed with the rifle too. If I ever want to improve the accuracy, I will buy a 3-9 scope for it. Happy Holidays all!

I think it's a fantastic round and I've shot a lot of it, but I rarely do anymore since it costs more to shoot than 223. For ME, 22 Mag can't do anything 17hmr doesn't do better.
