    AR 22 dedicated uppers

I have been playing around with either converting my AR 15 with a 22 conversion kit or getting a dedicated upper. Any advice? Also suggestions for cheap but functional 22 LR upper (it'll be a dedicated trainer/plinker rifle)

My PSA dedicated upper was like 300 bucks. I've shot the piss out of it with zero problems. Highly recommend it.

Dedicated with black dog mags. Think RTB is rebranded CMMG. No personal experience but have heard good things.

I have an old Tactical Solutions upper. Very fun!

Dedicated upper with black dog mags all the way. Runs great every time, regardless of brand of ammo. As opposed to my friend’s bolt conversion and mag which has issues every few rounds.

I have a dedicated PSA upper. Was like $199 years ago. I have a better mag agapter, so I run s+w m+p mags. In 10 rd size and 10/25 (but 25 now, as I modified them during freedom week 2019)

                Build your own dedicated upper.

CMMG and Black Dog mags worked well for me when the mag lock devices where everywhere a few years back. no problems at all.

Get a BRT (CMMG made) barrel, a AR-22 upper and a .22lr BCG. Have your local guy assemble it.

A dedicated upper is the way to go.

I chose the Better mag adapter

to use with S&W M&P 15-22 mags. This combined with a PSA dedicated upper is great kit.

Good luck with your decision OP.

As others have mentioned above... dedicated for sure.

Bear Creek is a good deal and excellent choice. Side charger for 22 is excellent for long range bench shooting. I have the 22magnum version.

I have had great luck with the Chiappa dedicated upper, but I think they're discontinued now unfortunately. And PSA has good reviews, but they're literally always out of stock so might as well be discontinued also. I don't know who else is reliable enough to recommend to actually have their products in stock unfortunately. Good luck
