    Sk Match ammo

Hi Anybody have a recommendation on precision 22 ammo, such as SK or Lapua,
This will be foiling into a BXR Bergara.
    Thanks

    For what use?

As others with more experience/knowledge than me have noted, you need to try various makes/lots to figure out what works best with your rifle. My B14R seems to do fine with Center X, but then again, I'm just shooting at the range.
Too many rifles, not enough time...

SK/Wolf match have been pretty dang good in everything I've tried them in. If you really want to make the right choice you need to test a bunch of different ones. But I use those as my baseline. Partially because it's good, partially because it's affordable, partially because it smells good.

You will also have to figure out what ammo your rifle likes (for accuracy) and what it likes function wise (you want something your rifle can actually run without jamming).

Running SK Long Range Match and it is more consistent through most of my .22s vs Wolf Match Extra.
10 rds at 50 usually will be just under .50. The Wolf can certainly do this but I experience more flyers.

The SK gave me 1122 fps avg with a 10 SD through the Bergara. Wolf through the same gun and also 20 rounds was 1098 and 14.2 SD.

I dont mean to be rude but I looked up both SK & Wolf and I see no difference from all the domestic I have?
I get the scoping of it out of the barrel but is their a dramatic difference, to me it's all just .22 LR when I look at them, is there a powder difference?

I have 5 really cool .22's and all of them I can drill a target at a hundred yards but I know competition shooting is something else. Just asking what makes the difference in loads.

I'm no 22lr expert, but it's always been my belief that Wolf Match Target and the SK Standard Plus are the same ammo in different packaging. SK Long Range Plus is probably something a little different.

Heck, doing a little reading now, it looks like Eley produces Wolf now? Learn something new every day I suppose. Makes me want to buy a brick and try it out. I've still got several thousand rounds of Wolf Target from 12 or so years ago that shoot dang good in both of my Anschutz rifles.

The tolerances tend to be much better with match 22LR than standard loads. This is tolerances for the cases, primer, powder charge and the projectile weight and shape. Not all rifles will be able to take advantage of this and some rifles will like certain loads better.

I have noticed for standard ammo CCi SV and even Aguila SV will outperform most 22LR ammo for accuracy and precision. Match ammo takes it up a notch or 2, and most people pair certain ammo and batches with rifles that like them.

I have only tried Wolf Match Extra by Eley in my CZ 457 Varmint, and it definitely produces tighter and more consistent groups than CCI. Would love to try more types of match ammo, but it can be hard to find.

If you can shoot sub moa 5 shot groups at 100yds with bulk ammo out of your 5 different rifles, more power to you. Most rifles require match ammo to do that, and it gets even more challenging at 200yds+ with 22LR.

Wolf Match Extra = Eley Club
Wolf Match Target = Eley Target

I really like these two, especially since TargetSports sells it and I have a membership with them. Be even better if TS sold the higher grade ammo like Tenex/Match but that’s ok, Club/Target are good for most things.

Someone said Wolf was SK a few years back but its Eley now. Wolf Ammunition, based out of California, doesn’t make anything. They find, re-label and market other’s products in the US. I think their bad reputation comes from their steel cased centerfire rifle ammo, which (was) sourced from Russia. I don’t know if that’s still around thought.

I also would like to see this claim in person (and not on a YouTube video). I put a few years into testing rifles and ammo, which I explained in a previous post searching for the most accurate .22LR ammo/rifle config. If a sub 1 MOA grouping can be done out of low priced, bulk ammo, I really would like to see it, as that would be the only ammo I'd ever buy. I'd be saving hundreds, if not thousands.

The only oddity I ever found was CCI standard 40 grain LRN, which punches a bit above its class. Probably no surprise, as many people already know its pretty good stuff. But even that one loses out to the high-grade stuff.

SK and Lapua are same company. Lapua is the top tier. All about tolerances and shot deviation.

I win a lot of matches with Aguila standard velocity ammo. It costa about $5/box of 50.

A TIN CAN’S WORST ENEMY. Our standard velocity round is guaranteed to deliver optimal performance at an all-too-affordable price, making it the perfect plinking or target round.

10-15 years ago, Wolf match was SK standard plus and Wolf match Extra was SK Match.
                              SK is low-line Lapua.
Both are the same ammo off the same production line, but the lots that shot better during lot testing at Lapua are sold as the higher grades.
