    Holy Grail .22

I love .22 semi-autos and have at least a dozen of them, from tiny .22 short Beretta and Astra mouse guns to some very accurate target pistols such as Buck Mark and S&W 422, but always yearned for an S&W Model 41. I was put off by high prices but was cruising through Gunbroker one day and spotted a Model 41 that wasn't getting much love, apparently due to a couple of cosmetic blemishes. I wound up getting it for about half price of new one, had it shipped from New Jersey to California and found out on first day at range that it effortlessly puts shots in one hole. SN says it was made in 1970-71 period and to me it's just about perfect.

Nice old school score. I like old S&W pistols and revolvers.

I think I saw that one, haha!!

41’s are cool. I’ve got a 41-1 in .22 Short with the 7” barrel and muzzle brake. Talk about soft shooting

      Nice pickup, OP!!

My Smith & Wesson 41 is my favorite .22 handgun. It is well made and accurate.

It might sound silly but I have an old H&R 929 that my dad bought in the mid 70s. It's my favorite 22 handgun.

          Good score, OP. Congrats

I need to get me some more 22 semi autos.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Enjoy that .41! I know older ones are better made than recent ones (like mine). But they all shoot extremely accurate. A little picky on certain brands of ammo but that’s to be expected.

              Congrats..

I have heard the 41s are nice pistols and are well thought of. I have never had a good opportunity to come up to own one...

But you mentioned Beretta.. This is my favorite Target type .22..It is a Beretta 89.. Very nice trigger, very accurate and very well made.. Just a beutiful Handgun..

I have an extra threaded upper assembly too.. It cares less about what ammo brand you feed it as far as function..Just ultra dependable..

I had both 4" and 6" Colt Diamondbacks in 22 way back in the 70s. My holy grail would to get one or both again but could settle for the Colt King Cobra if it ever gets on the roster.

Superficially a beretta 89 appears to be near clone of S&W 41? Is it a clone?

No, not a clone of the SW at all.. It is based on Berettas 80 series frame.. With a target upper made for that platform.. They share no real design similarity's with the the 41 internally.. And not alot on the external side either.. Both are fine Pistols.. But the 89 is of course better, it is a Beretta,LOL

I've been shooting my Swiss SIG P210-2 9mm pistol with it's factory 22LR conversion unit for decades now---a VERY fine pistol...
