    Ruger 10/22 scope mount

I just ordered and received this scope from suggestions from CGN members. Looks great, can't wait to get it mounted and zero it in. Thanks for the suggestions.

However, I should have realized that I was missing the proper mounting pieces. Although I understand I need a mounting rail, I don't know what type of rail I need.

    Am I in need of a weaver style rail? Such as;

If not, what would I need?

Here is a pic of the rifle in question. Ignore the nubs on top of the receiver - as I found out too late that these are not proper mounting points.

you might want something with more notches on the rail so that you can mount rings wherever you want. the rail you linked looks like you can only mount each ring in one position, which should, but may not fit your particular scope.

edit: the rail that comes with rugers are weaver.

I guess that's where my question is. I'm not entirely sure the scope has a weaver style mount (i can't find info about the style of rings the mounts are), I don't think it needs the perpendicular cuts for mounting purposes.

Here's a shot of the mount (scope upside down).

that lookes like 3/8 inch dove tail rings, so weaver and picatinny will not work.
I just looked at my 10/22 and noticed that the rail mount that comes with new 10/22's a have what seem to be a dovetail mount incorporated. The one you linked also seems to have this. You should confirm this with that website or other members on here.

did your ruger come with a rail? if it does, test it first, and if it works, then use it.

Just use the rail that came with your 10/22 or a factory cheap replacement from Brownell's or MidwayUSA.

Don't have a rail for this 10/22 at all.

I *think* this is what I want, but without a picture, it's hard to feel confident prior to ordering.

I bough the dead nuts & had to buy another the was not enough adjustment in the scope. This is what you want, it's the only way to go IMHO.

You can add MOA before you ever touch your scope adjustments. Many people complain about the 10/22 having barrel droop. This base can compinsate for that.

No offense, but stop dicking around on the internet. Take the gun, mount and scope to the nearest shop. Most local gun stores will be happy to help you pick the right accessories and answer 3 other questions that you may not even have thought about yet. You might $5 more at the LGS, but it's totally worth it...

Already ahead of you. Just returned from there and got what I needed!

In my defense though; I posted on this here intarwebs while the LGS' were closed. It was my only choice to get info prior to going in.

The base that you need for THAT scope is the factory combination mount. The scope that you ordered sometimes comes with 22 rings. If so they use the smaller inner "22" rail. Regular Weaver rings use the outer rail. Remember to use blue loctite and torque the base to about 15 inch-pounds. The receiver is only thin aluminum and you don't want to strip the holes. Do not use loctite on the rings. MidwayUSA has a free online video showing you how to level and site in your scope.
