.22WRM or .17 ?

Wanting to buy a new pinker. Wich one would you buy and why?

Looked at CZ 457 but couldn't find out if it could come with a .22 WRM and a .17 barrel.
If so that would be my combo.

Or would you just buy a rifle in .17 or .22 magnum ?
And why

So what do you like best and why?

I have plenty of .22 lr gun.

I like 22 mag just because it's what I've been shooting. I know the .17 is great also. I have a few 22 mags, but Magnum Research with the carbon barrel is my favourite for shooting fox, coons and coyotes. Leadfree shoots pretty good through it and it has just worked. Semi is nice and the Kidd trigger is great. The switch barrel CZ looks pretty nice if you're looking for a bolt action. Good luck!

I picked 17hmr with a hr handi rifle, win 9417, and a cz 457 where I?ve been waiting for 5 months now for a barrel from cz USA (I should have just gone with a Lothar Walter barrel, but they showed as in stock when I clicked buy now and it was half the price). 22mag a bit better with wind, 17 a little flatter, both similar in the targets they are used for. I see more 17 lead free on shelves so that was what decided it for me.

You can swap barrels and mags on the CZ 457 to do 22LR, 22mag and the 17. A spacer is needed for 22LR, but IIRC not between the 22 mag and 17, the action, etc can support all these calibers.

I was toying with the idea to get additional barrels for my 457, till I saw the prices for 22mag ammo, and especially 17HMR.

I checked again and you?re absolutely right, no 22mag/17mag combo. I guess they discontinued it a while back.
Now that I think about it, it?s been a while. I now remember ordering a 22mag barrel for my 17mag. ?We will alert you when back in stock? and that never happened.

If you have a 22 mag revolver it would make sense to get the 457 in 22 mag. You should be able to find. 17 hmr barrel down the line. The mags are the same and no need for a mag spacer for 22LR, though it is an option if you ever decide in the future. The CZ barrels seem hard to get, and some aftermarket ones are pricey.

But then, 17hmr is obsolete with that other faster 17 rimfire out in quality rifles now, just with harder to find and less ammo selection.

Are you talking about 17 WSM? The 17WSM costs about what 223 costs

17 hmr costs what 223 costs. That's why I rarely shoot it or 22 Mag anymore. WSM is even more.
